Trump's Golf Obsession: 88 Visits in 2025 - How Much is it Costing Taxpayers? (2026)

In 2025, President Trump spent a staggering amount of time on the golf course, raising eyebrows and sparking debate. This year alone, he's clocked in a remarkable 88 visits to various golf clubs, a figure that's hard to ignore.

This data comes courtesy of the Trump Golf Tracker, which meticulously monitors the president's public schedule and motorcade movements. But here's where it gets controversial: while the tracker provides a solid count of visits, it acknowledges that the exact number of times Trump actually played golf during these visits remains somewhat unclear.

Looking at the monthly breakdown, August takes the lead with 10 club visits, closely followed by March and November, each with 9 days spent on the green. December also saw a significant presence, with 9 visits to his West Palm Beach, Florida club.

In response to these figures, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle stated, "President Trump is working 24/7 to Make America Great Again and make the world a safer place. Nobody works harder than President Trump who has delivered a record number of historic achievements in only a year."

Interestingly, the 88 visits in 2025 surpass the estimated 87 times he played golf during his first year in office. Throughout his first term, the frequency varied: 67 times in 2018, 84 times in 2019, and 47 times in 2020, amidst the global pandemic.

And this is the part most people miss: The Trump Golf Tracker estimates that these trips have cost taxpayers approximately $110,600,000 so far in 2025. This estimate, based on a 2019 Government Accountability Office (GAO) report, doesn't even include December's expenses. All of his golfing excursions this year have been to his own properties, including those in Florida, Virginia, and New Jersey.

His golfing adventures began in late January, just a week into his second term, with a trip to Florida. He later visited his Bedminster and Virginia clubs in March and April, respectively. In late July, he even traveled to Scotland to play at his Trump Turnberry and Aberdeenshire properties, coinciding with a ribbon-cutting for his new golf course.

Beyond his own courses, the president also attended the Ryder Cup in late September, showing his support for the U.S. team. It was the first time a sitting U.S. president attended the event, but Team Europe won.

It's worth noting that Trump isn't the first president to enjoy golf. President Barack Obama played an estimated 333 rounds during his eight years in office. However, if Trump maintains his current pace, he could surpass Obama's total in just his second term alone.

In comparison, President Joe Biden, while not an avid golfer, made frequent visits to his Delaware homes, with at least 33 visits during his first year and 31 trips during his second year. These visits ranged from day trips to weekend getaways.

What are your thoughts on the balance between presidential duties and leisure activities? Do you think the cost to taxpayers is justified, or should there be more scrutiny? Share your opinions in the comments below!
