Roman Reigns: The Rumble Reign Continues!
In a historic turn of events, Roman Reigns emerged victorious from the 2026 WWE Royal Rumble, securing himself a shot at the ultimate prize at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. But here's where it gets controversial...
Reigns, the Tribal Chief, will step into the ring for an unprecedented 11th time as the main event headliner at The Show of Shows. He faced off against Gunther, who had already defeated AJ Styles earlier, but Reigns prevailed with a powerful spear, sending Gunther over the top rope.
With the choice of challenging for either the Undisputed WWE Championship or the World Heavyweight Championship, Reigns has a tough decision ahead. The current champions, Drew McIntyre and CM Punk, respectively, will be waiting.
The Royal Rumble match was a thrilling spectacle, featuring an array of talented wrestlers. Oba Femi, making his first-ever Rumble appearance, impressed with five eliminations, tying with Reigns for the match-high. However, his journey ended when Brock Lesnar entered the ring.
Other notable moments included the debut of Royce Keys, formerly known as Powerhouse Hobbs in AEW, and the return of LA Knight, who had been absent since December. Knight eliminated two members of The Vision's group but was ultimately knocked out by Cody Rhodes.
Speaking of Rhodes, he faced an unexpected elimination when the Undisputed WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre, delivered a Claymore from outside the ring, sending Rhodes flying. This year's men's Rumble was stacked with top stars, past winners, and rising talents, making it a highly anticipated event.
Reigns and Rhodes were the favorites, having both headlined WrestleMania in the past. Reigns, a previous Rumble winner in 2015, was announced as an entrant a few weeks ago and quickly became the odds-on favorite.
Saturday marked Reigns' return to WWE programming after his last appearance at Survivor Series in November. His teammate in that match, Rhodes, also entered the Rumble as a strong contender.
Rhodes, inspired by the legendary 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin, aimed to become only the second wrestler to win three Royal Rumble matches. McIntyre's recent defeat of Rhodes added an extra layer of motivation.
Several other Superstars, including Gunther, Breakker, Femi, and Jacob Fatu, were also in the running, with the potential for a surprise entrant to steal the win.
Reigns' return to WWE programming was a grand spectacle, solidifying his place among the elite Superstars who have won multiple Royal Rumble matches. His history with both Punk and McIntyre adds an intriguing layer to his journey towards WrestleMania.
And this is the part most people miss... With the direction of the Undisputed WWE Championship, it seems Reigns might be eyeing the World Heavyweight Championship.
