The 2026 PGA Tour is heating up, with a thrilling race to the finish at the $20 million Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Among the contenders, Akshay Bhatia and Ryo Hisatsune are leading the pack with a score of 15-under par, closely followed by Rickie Fowler and Min Woo Lee. But here's where it gets controversial: while Bhatia and Hisatsune are at the top, Fowler and Lee are hot on their heels, making the leaderboard a crowded and exciting affair.
Bhatia, a California native, scored a remarkable 64 with back-to-back bogey-free rounds, joining Hisatsune at the pinnacle of the event. This comes on the heels of his joint-third-placed finish at the Phoenix Open last week, where he's building on his previous PGA Tour wins. Fowler, chasing his first win since 2023, also carded a 64, ending the day in joint third place with Sam Burns. Meanwhile, Australian Min Woo Lee is tied for fifth after a superb second round, while Jason Day, the only other Australian in the field, is at six under.
Hisatsune, the 23-year-old from Okayama, Japan, is on a roll, having won the 2023 Open de France on the DP World Tour. He built on his career-best 10-under opening round with a fine five-under par 67, despite bogeying the 18th and 1st as he made the turn at Spyglass Hill. Scheffler, the world's number one, is also back in the running with a second-round 66, putting him six-under for the tournament.
But it's Fowler who's causing the most excitement. After a tough 2025 season, where he briefly dropped outside the world top-100 due to injury, the 37-year-old is on the mend. "My shoulder was bad all last year, so I was just trying to manage and get through as best that I could," he said. "My body and shoulder feel a lot better than it did last year."
As the competition heats up, the question remains: who will claim the top spot? With such a crowded leaderboard, it's anyone's game. And this is the part most people miss: the race to the finish is far from over. So, who do you think will come out on top? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
